Irvine Global Festival Village
The Irvine Global Festival Village event is held at Irvine Great Park in October. This event is managed and hosted by the city of Irvine and IKPA takes part in the global event.
At this event, our goal is to spread awareness of Korean culture through various games and activities. Participants learn to write their names in Korean on paper fans and take pictures with a traditional Korean costume photo prop.
Some of the games we showcase are “TUHO,” a game where a player throws “arrows” into a clay pot; “JEGICHAGI,” a game similar to American “hacky sack,” where a player kicks “JEGI” (a game piece) and attempts to keep it in the air as long as possible; and “TTAKJI” game where folded paper tiles are used to flip the opponent’s own “TTAKJI” (paper tile).
This year, a new archery game was introduced. Using a bow "Hwall" we try to shoot arrows toward a marked target. We also made and distributed a Korean style musical instrument the "Sogo" similar to a tamberine.
Our IKPAVC student volunteers are responsible for setting up/cleaning up booths and displays as well as engaging the festival attendees with various activities and games.
얼바인 글로벌 빌리지 페스티벌은 매년 10월 어바인 그레이트파크에서 개최되는 어바인시에서 주관하고, IKPA가 참여하는 글로벌 이벤트 입니다.
이 행사는 다양한 한국전통놀이와 활동들을 통해 한국문화를 소개하고 이해를 넓히는 행사입니다. 한글로 이름쓰기, 전통부채 페인팅, 한국전통의상 체험, 제기차기, 투호, 딱지치기등 매년 다양한 한국의 전통 문화를 소개하고 있습니다.
IKPAVC는 IKPA 부스에서 한국문화를 알리는 이벤트에 부스 설치/이벤트 진행/정리 등의 봉사를 합니다.
Mid Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival is a multicultural event hosted by the City of Irvine. IKPA and IKPAVC volunteers participate every year to promote Korean culture to our community.
Through various games and fun hands on craft activities, we introduce and enhance our Korean culture to both the attendees and our volunteers as well!

이 행사는 다양한 한국전통놀이와 활동들을 통해 한국문화를 소개하고 이해를 넓히는 행사입니다. 제기차기, 투호, 딱지치기등 다양한 게임과 놀이로 한국의 전통 문화를 소개하고 있습니다.
참여자 봉사자 모두에게 기억에 남을만한 매우 유익한 행사입니다.
