The Irvine Korean Parents Association (IKPA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in1997 by Korean parents of public high schools in Irvine.
IKPA works with Irvine Unified School District to bridge between teachers, students, parents and schools.
Its primary purpose and mission are to serve as liaison between the Korean parents and students, and the community at large, in support of the public school system in Irvine. IKPA was founded to provide a forum through which Korean parents can effectively articulate, communicate, and exchange cultural information and ideas amongst themselves as well as with the IUSD faculty and staff.
IKPA reaches out to our Korean community to create a better understanding of the public school system and to bridge the cultural gap between parents, students and teachers.
We also focus on establishing the Korean identity among the Korean students coming from various cultural backgrounds and helping those students adjust to school life, as well as raising funds to improve the educational environment and promoting awareness of Korea among other ethnic groups in our community.
We aim to work in collaboration with the PTSA at each school in IUSD and build a partnership in support of the students and the faculty. We also intend to promote increase in cultural by participating in various citywide activities and events.
